As a fiction writer, I'm fascinated by what lies just beyond what we can see. Every novel begins with a question, and for me, those questions are often inspired by ordinary places that suddenly don't feel quite so ordinary. An old church. A winding coastal road. A forgotten room. A door that has remained closed for decades.
